Summer camp 2016 is here at Lovell Camps and we are off to a flying start! Our first campers arrived on Friday July 1st and are already bonding and building new friendships, while learning about each others different nationalities and cultures. There was no better way to welcome our new campers to the Saanenland than roasting marshmallows on our brand new fire pit with an incredible view of the Swiss Alps in the background. The lodge has come back to life with the arrival of many happy faces! Campers have had a jam-packed first few days at camp.

On Saturday morning we explored the beautiful town of Gstaad where the campers strolled around the shops to buy themselves and their loved ones Swiss souvenirs and treats. After lunch it was game on, with a tennis lesson! We quickly learned that we have some stars in the making as some of our campers had harder hits than Roger Federer and Serena Williams. Saturday night it was back into town where we headed to the cinema with a bag of popcorn to watch the new Ice Age movie.

On Sunday campers and staff headed to the Arnensee for an aqua adventure. We started with a walk around the lake followed by a well deserved cook out lunch. Campers had a lot of fun learning boating skills, which ended up with a few campers and counsellors even going for a dip in the lake.

On Monday, we had our first language lesson after our new day campers had arrived. Language is a fantastic part of our program where children can immerse themselves in English or French. We then drove into Zweismmen to have a cookout lunch with some games to get to know our new campers under the shady trees. Campers had fun in the sun, sliding down the crazy slide and showing of some serious skills jumping off the two diving boards at the Zweisimmen outdoor pool.

On Tuesday, we headed back towards Zweisimmen and caught the gondola up the mountain to the top of the Rinderberg for a hike towards the Horneggli. Campers were amazed by the beautiful views through out the entire day!

On Wednesday, campers experienced winer in July, on top of the Glacier 3000. Senior campers took a ride on an alpine roller coaster, which is actually the highest alpine coaster in the world. Sledding, snowball fights and hiking through the snow, were some of the highlights up top. To defrost from the snow we headed down into Gstaad to mini golf. Boarding campers ended the day by watching the World Tour Beach Volleyball tournament, Switzerland vs. Canada. Switzerland won!

All this has happened in only five days! We still have an action packed program full of hiking, camping, canyoning, rock climbing, outdoor skills, excursions into other swiss towns, learning about Swiss cheese and chocolate, making new friends and much much more. We are looking forward to welcoming more families for the next session, starting tomorrow!
